Storage Overview
There are various data storage areas avalaible to users, associated to different services, usages, capacities, acess etc.
Disk storage adapted to local usages :
- HOME : Personal storage space associated to the user $HOME environment variable
- TMPDIR : Temporary shared area available on all compute nodes via the $TEMPDIR environment variable
- MUSTFS : Group data area accessible from all MUST ressources via /mustfs used for non-critical experimental data that have to be accessed regularly by several colleagues.
Storage adapted to large-scale or grid computing environments :
- CernVM-FS: Read-only remote storage (CVMFS) used for software distribution accessible via universal namespace /cvmfs
- dCache : High capacity storage dedicated to large-scale distributed computing (such as EGI/WLCG)
