VO overview
Users of WLCG and EGI are organised into Virtual Organisations (VO).
A VO is a group of people that have similar focus in their work and have a common wish to share access to a subset of EGI resources.
Membership of a VO (or a group within that VO) is how access is granted to those resources.
A typical VO provides some base-level access to the resources for all VO members, with some members having elevated privileges.

VO registration
Once you get a grid certificate, you need to register in a VO in order to get access to all the grid environment of the associated experiment.
Go to one of the following web page depending on your project and follow the procedure:
Project | VO name | Registration link |
---|---|---|
ATLAS | atlas | https://lcg-voms2.cern.ch:8443/voms/atlas/register/start.action |
LHCb | lhcb | https://lcg-voms2.cern.ch:8443/voms/lhcb/register/start.action |
CTA | vo.cta.in2p3.fr | https://cclcgvomsli01.in2p3.fr:8443/voms/vo.cta.in2p3.fr/register/start.action |
ILC | ilc | https://grid-voms.desy.de:8443/voms/ilc/register/start.action |

France Grilles | vo.france-grilles.fr | https://cclcgvomsli01.in2p3.fr:8443/voms/vo.france-grilles.fr/register/start.action |
You will receive a confirmation e-mail, just click on the given link to confirm your registration.
CAUTION:
- If the link doesn't work, please change web browsers.
- Former grid users, depending on the VO they belong to, might have to add their new certificate to their grid profile selecting add an additional certificate on the relevant VOMS server (it will be validated by the VO Manager). This should NOT happen for CERN VOs such as ATLAS or LHCb.
